On May 26, 2010, Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released a video titled "America and the Final Trap." Appearing in the video, among others, are AQAP mujahideen commanders condemning America's attacks on Southern Yemeni tribes, and criticizing regional Arab governments. AQAP praised the actions of Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan and failed Christmas Day bomber Umar al-Farouk Abdulmutallab. Boasting about Abdulmutallab’s explosive device, the narrator states: "the mujahideen were able, with the grace of Allah, to infiltrate all the boundaries; the brother Umar al- Farouk—may Allah release him—took off and passed through five international airports, including the Dutch airport in Amsterdam, and neither their technology nor machines were able to uncover the manufactured device, all with Allah’s grace." Further, AQAP military commander Qassim al-Rimi praised one of the suicide bombers who targeted the American Embassy in Sana'a--Lutfi Bahaer—as well "lone-wolves," claiming "we have the likes of the martyred Sheikh Lutfi Bahar and many of his students; actually, we will transfer the battle to the homeland and beat them with the punch and kill their soldiers in their safe bases just as the brave hero Nidal Hasan has done—may Allah release him—in Fort Hood, and also their jets are a legitimate target for us and we have many of the likes of Umar al-Farouk and the attempts will continue.”
