Message from Shabaab al-Mujahideen Suicide Bomber – Beledweyne Operation

On January 26, 2012, an audio message was released from Shabaab al-Mujahideen suicide bomber Muhammad Abdi Hasan, who carried out an attack targeting an Ethiopian army base in Beledweyne, allegedly killing 33 soldiers. In the Arabic-language message, Hasan stated his “desire to satisfy my Lord who created me.” Hasan warned “the infidels who dared to invade the countries of Islam [that they] will not succeed” and that Shabaab “will throw our revenge upon you when we reach your regions.” Hasan closed his message exhorting the “the Mujahideen…to be steadfast and hopeful…[and] Allah-willing you will be rewarded heaven.”
