On August 8, 2010, Shabaab al-Mujahideen’s Office for Supervising the Affairs of Foreign Agencies (OSAFA) announced that World Vision, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), and Diakonia “can no longer operate inside Somalia” because “Acting as missionaries under the guise of humanitarian work, the organizations have been spreading their corrupted ideologies in order to taint the pure creed of the Muslims in Somalia.” OSAFA threatened that “Any other organizations found to be engaged in similar activities as the above are hereby warned that they will be promptly closed, as the propagation of the Christian faith is unacceptable in Islam as well as in the Muslim society."
