On July 11, 2010, Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) released the first edition of its English-language magazine, “Inspire”, which featured an article lauding the failed Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Flight 253 by AQAP’s Umar Abdulmutallab. The bombing, which was carried out “in response to the American aggression on Yemen,” highlighted to “American and international intelligence…how fragile they are, bringing their nose to the ground, and making them regret all that they spent on security technology.” The article also called “on every Muslim who feels any jealousy for their religious beliefs to expel the polytheists from the Arabian Peninsula, by killing all of the crusaders working in embassies or otherwise, and to declare war against the crusaders in the land of the Prophet Muhammad…on the ground, sea and air.”
